MICRO-PSS

MICRO-PSS - Portable Particulate Sampling System

Particulate sampling system for endothermic engines (on-board version)

MICRO-PSS is a particulate sampling system employing the methodology of the partial dilution sampling. MICRO-PSS can be considered as the small version of PSS-20 and it can be used with any type of engine regardless of its size and power.
This unit complies with the specifications relating to the sampling of particulates in transient cycles, defined in the international ISO 16183 procedure and used as the basis for current European and American regulations.
MICRO-PSS is a completely independent and compact unit, its total weight is about 35 kg and that is the reason why it can be used directly on the vehicle for road surveys. The system only requires 24 V DC power supply and it can be installed in a few minutes.

MICRO-PSS is equipped with low inertia flow meters connected to volumetric pumps with variable speed. This configuration allows to obtain a response time under dynamic conditions less than 0,2 seconds ("transformation time" according to ISO 16183). The instrument can therefore be used in real-time, without the need for preliminary tests.

The use of mechanical volumetric flow meters guarantees the repeatability of the calibration even over very long times.

MICRO-PSS can be equipped with a sensor for continuous particulate matter reading (PPM), which operates by electrically charging the particles. Once this reading has been integrated and corrected by means of the indication obtained from the filter, it is possible to know the real-time evolution of the particulate matter during the test.
