ACVS – Altitude Constant Volume Sampler

The Mobile Altitude Simulator (Mob-EACS) is an innovative system that allows tests to be carried out on internal combustion engines by simulating altitude conditions above sea level that are different from the real conditions of the site where the test is actually carried out. The altimetric simulator makes it possible to test the behaviour of an engine at different altitude conditions in a range from 800 meters below sea level to 5.000 meters above sea level.
Thanks to a very fast and reliable regulation system, the mobile altimetric simulator (Mob-EACS) is able to maintain the pressure set in the simulation software, adapting to any variation coming from the engine operating requirements. This allows you to perform any type of test in steady, transient conditions or to accurately simulate uphill or downhill paths.
Similarly to the fixed solution of the altimetric simulator (EACS), the introduction of the mobile altimetric simulator (Mob-EACS) in engine, vehicle and powertrain test cells, or more simply in the testing world, has made it possible to eliminate the structural problems of the barometric chambers (test cells), ensuring greater installation flexibility. The concept of altimetric simulation has been extended to any type of test cell, regardless of the altitude above sea level at which it is located. The mobile altitude simulator (Mob-EACS) has been designed with the aim of being movable from one test cell to another one. For this purpose, the system is assembled on a "trolley" equipped with wheels in the base of which special holes are embedded and integrated for lifting by forklifts too.
Thanks to its small size, the mobile altimetric simulator (Mob-EACS) has allowed a further expansion of the field of application, allowing installations where, due to the lack of sufficient space, it was not possible to insert a fixed altimetric simulator (EACS).
Mob-EACS allows, with a small system, to perform any test both in stationary and in transient conditions, with extremely limited engine pressure variations and without the need to pressurize the test cell. Thanks to the low response time of the pressure control system, it is also possible to accurately simulate uphill or downhill routes.
The solution adopted consists in the creation of a volume of adequate capacity, within which a pump system maintains the desired pressure conditions even during transient conditions of the engine (sudden variations in the flow rate of combustion air, fuel and exhaust gases). The engine intake and exhaust ducts are then connected to this volume via hermetically sealed connections.
Mob-EACS can be integrated with optional devices, which allow precise regulation of the temperature and humidity of the combustion air:
Mob-EACS is available for different mass flow rate sizes: from 900 kg/h up to 1.500 kg/h; but thanks to the Link Mode solution, in which two twin systems are used simultaneously, the flow range can be doubled, guaranteeing up to 3.000 kg/h.
The intelligence of the EACS system entirely resides within a software application created in INT9000 software development environment which, in addition to making the application easy to use, guarantees full interfaceability with any test cell automation system.
