CVS: Constant Volume Sampling System
Read moreSistem
MICRO-PSS is a particulate sampling system based on the methodology of partial sampling on a variable dilution filter. MICRO-PSS can be considered as the reduced version of PSS-20 and it can be used with any type of engine regardless of size and power. This unit complies with the specifications for particulate sampling in transient cycles, defined in the international procedure ISO 16183, which is used as the basis for current European and American emissions regulations. MICRO-PSS is a completely independent and compact stand-alone unit, having a total weight of about 35 kg, which allows it to be used directly on a vehicle for road surveys. The system only requires a 24 VDC power supply and it can be installed in few minutes.
MICRO-PSS is equipped with low inertia flow meters which are connected to variable speed volumetric pumps. This configuration allows for a very low response time under dynamic conditions of less than 0,2 seconds (“transformation time” according to ISO 16183). The instrument can therefore be used in real-time without the need for preliminary tests.
The use of mechanical volumetric flow meters guarantees the repeatability of the calibration even over very long times.
MICRO-PSS can be equipped with a sensor for continuous reading of particulates, which operates by electrically charging the particles. Once this reading has been integrated and corrected by means of the indication obtained from the filter, it is possible to know second by second the evolution of the particulate matter during the test.
