Sistem
Dynosaur is the automation architecture for vehicle test rooms (or roller test rooms), consisting of modular systems capable of interacting with each other and managed by a supervisor application, which acts as the sovereign mind of the entire automation system.
The automation system mainly consists of the following equipment:
All the nodes of the automation system communicate according to the most common industrial communication protocols (such as Ethercat, Modbus, AK, etc.), making the system (or the individual parts of it) as modular as possible and easily interfaced with other automation systems.
The automation developed by Control Sistem allows having a single automation architecture for the roller test bench, consisting of individual modular components based on PLCs and characterized by flexibility. These features ensure communication with any other device on the market.
TeCASro – Test Cell Automation System rolls
TeCASro is the automation component capable of managing every aspect of the chassis-dyno test bench, starting from the choice of the regulation mode of the rollers themselves (constant speed, constant force, RLS).
The application is installed on the room PC and the user-friendly interface of INT9000 allows engineers and operators to fully and intuitively exploit all the available functions and to perform the main homologation and non-homologation cycles. The application also allows you to store the vehicles to be tested or already tested, by identifying the main parameters of themselves, such as the mass and the dynamic coefficients of the road equation. This defines configuration files that the user can compile and call up each time the vehicle is placed on the test bench again.
One of the most important features of TeCASro is to allow the calibration of the chassis-dyno test bench through the coast-down procedure and to check the compliance of the times and forces obtained.
TeCASro management capacity is also manifested in terms of teat cell safety: the application, in fact, allows the user to set limit values and alarm thresholds, with consequent safety actions.
The storage of the data acquired and processed by TeCASro takes place in a format compatible with the most common programs currently on the market such as, for example, Excel.
DBSro – Dynamic Braking System rolls
DBSro is the automation unit that is in charge of the complete control of the processes related to electric motors and rollers, managing their safety and their regulation methods (constant speed, constant force, RLS: Road Load Simulation).
The unit consists of a 19″ rack mainly made of the control electronics, present inside it and, on a visual level, remotely available on the room PC, allowing the operator to easily modify the main parameters useful for controlling the braking system, as well as monitoring the main variables of interest (force, speed, etc.).
DBSro can be interfaced with the superior automation system, both via digital/analogue signals and via Modbus Ethernet protocol.
VTCS – Vehicle Test Cell System
VTCS is the automation unit dedicated to the management of the plant processes related to the test room. It allows you to operate on the several test room systems both in manual and automatic mode (i.e., automatically controlled by the TeCASro, without the operator acting on the VTCS).
In case of manual operation, it is possible, for example, to set the opening percentages of the control system valves or to start and stop the specific components of the systems themselves. This mode is typically used by cell users to carry out the appropriate maintenance independently.
In automatic mode, on the other hand, it is the cell supervision system (e.g. TeCASro), which acts automatically on the VTCS depending on the cycles or functions controlled by the operator from the test cell PC.
MDH – Master Device Handler
MDH is the automation unit dedicated to the management of the instruments and devices in the test cell. Within the application, the devices that are connected to MDH are typically divided, into types (emission analysis instruments, smoke meters, flow meters, etc.).
MDH is an expandable unit: this means that any driver or communication language can be implemented on demand with the devices and tools on the market.
Driver AID
The AID Driver is a component included in the Dynosaur automation system and useful for performing emission cycles with a human driver on a car.
The hardware of the system simply consists of a monitor suitably positioned inside the Chassis-Dyno Test Cell, on which the driver can view the cycle speed track and consequently guide the vehicle on the rollers. During the driving, tolerance bands are also emphasized. These are imposed by legislative regulations for each driving cycle or customized by the test cell operator.
The system includes a library with the main European, American and Japanese emission cycles (ECE + EUDC, WLTP, FTP, Highway, etc.). It is also possible to define other driving cycles in a simple and intuitive way, through the TeCASro supervision system.
