Control

The DREAMS Autopilot (Driving Robot Easy Movable System) consists of a system aimed at the automatic driving of vehicles positioned on a roller test bench or on a powertrain test bench. It is mainly composed of an anthropomorphic robot that deals with the movement of the gear lever (in the case of vehicles with manual transmission) and a pedal set useful for managing the vehicle pedals. The whole hardware is controlled by an automation system created in INT9000 software development environment, which allows the system to be configured according to the vehicle to be driven and the driving style to be adopted, thus preparing DREAMS for any driving cycle. The system is essentially able to completely replace the work of a human driver on a chassis-dyno or a powertrain bench.

The robot is placed on the passenger seat using simple fastening straps. The driver seat is free, so to facilitate any type of movement by the operator.

The pedal set actuator box, on the other hand, is simply placed on the floor of the vehicle.

The system only needs the vehicle speed signal to drive, so it is not mandatory to have the engine speed information available.

The system can be optionally equipped for:

  • working in a climatic test cell, with temperatures between -30 °C and +60 °C.
  • automatically managing the on/off of the vehicle.
