Engine performance analysis and optimisation

Engine test benches are indispensable tools for a company in the automotive sector. Both experimentation and testing are processes that pass through a test bench of this type.

In case of engine testing, Control Sistem offers the design, construction and commissioning of test benches and test cells used for the execution of any type of test (C.O.P, hot test, cold test, running-in, etc.) on endothermic, hybrid and electric engines.

Engine test benches are designed to analyse and optimize engine performance, providing a controlled environment for every kind of tests and ensuring reliable and repeatable results.

Moreover, thanks to an automation system for engine test cells, whose the test benches made by Control Sistem are equipped with, advanced test management is offered, ensuring maximum efficiency and precision in each testing session.

Features

  • Dynamometric brakes: the right coupling between the electric motor (or dynamo) and the drive panel guarantee high adjustment precision and therefore allow an accurate evaluation of the engine performance in all conditions.
  • Transmission chain: to ensure the necessary mechanical connection between the torque brake and the motor under test, Control Sistem designs and assembles a telescopic transmission chain to adapt the specifications of both the brake and the engine to be tested. The transmission chain is also equipped with a torque flange with a customizable scale and able to communicate with the automation system either analogically or in EtherCAT, if necessary.
  • Engine pallet: the endothermic engines under test can have different sizes. That is the reason why Control Sistem has engineered a engine support system consisting of 4 columns that can be moved along the 3 directions, so as to ensure the necessary flexibility in positioning and alignment of the engines to be tested.
  • Measurement instrumentation: the test benches are equipped with sensors useful for ensuring both good regulation (such as encoders, torque transducers, etc.), and measurement and evaluation of the performance tested on the bench.
  • Automation system: automation systems for engine test benches simplify and optimize the testing process, to obtain maximum operational efficiency and at the same time to control the systems the test room is equipped with.
  • Test Cells: in addition to the test benches, Control Sistem is able to design and build the cell that houses the test bench itself. As a General Contractor, many Control System projects start from the ground or from the floor and go all the way up to the realization of a turnkey project.
