The modern trend is to entrust the entire management of the test room to a single intelligent entity, which allows all instruments to be synchronised in the best possible way and the results and measured quantities to be collected in a single database to better manage both the test and its reports. However, many rooms do not require such a level of complexity and can be easily managed by manual controls and simpler acquisition software.
Control Sistem experience in the automotive testing sector has enabled it to develop intelligent automation systems for vehicle test benches. The system proposed by Control Sistem is made up of modular components that can operate independently, if necessary, or be integrated into existing systems through simple and reliable communication interfaces.
All of that has been possible mainly thanks to the evolution of the INT9000 development environment, in synergy with the best PLCs on the market. INT9000 is a real-time software created in-house at Control Sistem, extremely flexible, ductile and easy to use.
INT9000 is designed to be completely open to the hardware components of the market, allowing the connection of all types of peripherals (PLCs, controllers, data acquisition cards, etc.). Thanks to its great flexibility, INT9000 can be used at different levels: from simple system monitoring applications to complete test room management with complex calibration and real-time data acquisition functions.
INT9000, thanks to an approach that does not require in-depth knowledge of programming languages, reduces the time and cost of parameterisation and definition of automatic cycles.
The physical acquisition systems are all based on the use of PLCs, which take care not only of the communication between the field and the software, but also of the monitoring and security of the room, so that the system is always safe even in the event of a personal computer failure.
In this configuration, the I/O system is dedicated to data acquisition and the general management of the bench and safety devices, while the PC has the task of defining and executing the test cycles with related data management and archiving.
The automation system represents a common platform for all the chassis-dyno built by Control Sistem: in this way, the customer can benefit from all the hardware and software evolutions matured through a policy of continuous updating and improvement of the plants.
The automation architecture proposed for the roller test cells is Dynosaur, consisting of several pieces of equipment. Each of them has a specific role:
