The Linea Blu program (Rai Uno) featured a segment on Viking Libra, the world’s first hydrogen-powered cruise ship.
A groundbreaking project developed in Italy: the fuel cells installed on board are integrated by Isotta Fraschini Motori at its Bari facility, using containerized solutions with a maximum power of 3 MW each. Control Sistem is involved as a technological partner in the development of the testing facilities, where the systems will be validated.
At the Apulia site, Control Sistem designed and developed the test room for validating 3 MW fuel cell systems, integrating automation, energy management, and safety systems for hydrogen use.
The project, now in an advanced stage with plant completion and commissioning activities underway, represents a concrete transition from research to industrial application.
The same technologies are directly applied on Viking Libra, a vessel capable of operating with zero emissions thanks to hydrogen-powered fuel cell systems.
This achievement confirms Control Sistem’s role in developing advanced and sustainable energy solutions, contributing in a tangible way to the transition toward the future of maritime mobility.
